The Phillies are still searching for an eighth-inning setup man after their trade talks for Houston's Wilton Lopez were halted Thursday. Lopez, a 29-year-old righthander from Nicaragua, had visited Philadelphia for a physical Wednesday, according to two baseball sources. Those same sources indicated Thursday that the trade talks with the Astros were over. The cause of the breakdown was not known, but Lopez did experience some tightness in his elbow at the end of July last season.

Villanova will open on the road in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, but senior safety Ronnie Akins of North Penn doesn't mind - and for good reason. The 20-team FCS playoff field was announced on Sunday, and Villanova (8-3) will visit Stony Brook (9-2) in a first-round matchup 3 p.m. on Saturday. The winner of that game will play at Montana State on Dec. 1. Villanova earned the automatic berth for winning the Colonial Athletic Association, yet it earned them neither a first-round bye nor a home game.
