One man was killed and another critically wounded in separate shootings Wednesday night in West Philadelphia, police said. Shortly after 7:45 p.m., police responded to the unit block of North Redfield Street, where they found a victim, described as in his late 20s, shot once in the head. Officers took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:29 p.m. Police found a pair of dice at the shooting scene. Shortly after 8, a man believed to be about 20 was shot in the head near 60th and Manning Streets.

One man and three teens were hurt by gunfire within a 20-minute span Tuesday afternoon in the city's Germantown section. About 3:50 p.m., a 54-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his right shin in the unit block of West Rockland Street, police said. The victim declined assistance from responding medics. About 4:10 p.m., with police still on the scene, gunfire erupted nearby. A 19-year-old man was shot in the right ankle in the 4800 block of Germantown Avenue and was taken by police to Temple University Hospital.

The death of a 45-year-old woman in her Burlington County home is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said Thursday. Shannon O'Rourke was found dead Wednesday in her home on the unit block of Nassau Road in Lumberton. The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and Lumberton Township Police said in a joint statement Thursday the county medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. Authorities said details of her death are not being released at this time. No arrest has been made.

The teens on East Walnut Lane were drifting through another summer afternoon Wednesday - playing basketball, hanging out - when a few decided to venture into an abandoned house. Chris Reed, 14, didn't go inside, he said Thursday. But he was there when his friends came back out with a box containing a disassembled revolver. Within minutes, Reed said, the others had put together and loaded the weapon. Then a 15-year-old, thinking the gun was jammed, put the barrel against the head of Chris Mackey, 13, and pulled the trigger.

Suspect in S.J. murder nabbed A Pennsauken man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man, authorities said Saturday. Isaiah Pascall, 23, of Pennsauken, is charged with first-degree murder in last week's shooting death of Joshua Simmons, also of Pennsauken, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office announced Saturday. The shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. Monday after a fight on the unit block of Russell Avenue in Merchantville, Camden County, authorities said. Police found Simmons lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound.

An elderly couple died in a fire that tore through their single family home in Willingboro, Burlington County, this morning, according to law enforcement. The blaze broke out in a two-story home on the unit block of Millbrook Dr. about 6 a.m. and the couple was trapped inside. Power was out in the neighborhood at the time because of Hurricane Sandy. The couple's identity was not immediately released. Several media reports say the couple might have been using a generator for power.

A multiple-alarm fire raged through at least eight rowhouses in the unit block of West Philadelphia Avenue in Morrisville, Bucks County, late Saturday night. Authorities said the fire was first reported about 10 p.m. and within an hour had engulfed at least eight of 21 homes in the block. Dozens of residents had been evacuated, according to a county police dispatching supervisor, who said there were no reports of injuries. - George Anastasia

New Jersey authorities have arrested a Burlington County man on child pornography charges. Christian D. Maher-Schultze, 23, of the unit block of Hawk Lane, in Evesham, is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child for using his email to trade pornographic images of prepubescent girls engaging in sexual acts with men, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said Monday. Maher-Schultze was arrested Friday at home after investigators, acting on a search warrant, found the pornography on his computer.

A 24-year-old man was in critical condition after crashing his ATV into a tree Tuesday afternoon in Camden County, police said. Stephen Smarrito, 24, was transported to Cooper University Hospital after his ATV struck a tree on Ridge Avenue about 4:35 p.m. Police did not provide a precise location for the crash. Smarrito lives in the unit block of Ridge Avenue, police said. The accident was being investigated by the Gloucester Township Police Department Serious Crash Investigation Team.

A man died and two firefighters suffered minor injuries after a fire broke out late last night at the Melrose shopping center in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County. Montgomery County dispatch logs show the fire was reported about 11 Thursday night in a 911 call. The two-alarm blaze broke out during what was initially reported as a small explosion in a beauty supply store in the strip mall on the unit block of East Cheltenham Avenue. The fire was brought until control about 4:37 a.m., but was still burning an hour later.

A house fire in Delaware County early Friday morning was intentionally set by the victim, who ignited the blaze and then shot himself, police said. Police and fire were called to the unit block of Granite Terrace in Springfield Township just after midnight, according to Joseph Daly, chief of police. The house was engulfed with heavy smoke and flames coming from the right side. Crews were able to knock the fire down in a short amount of time, he said. Firefighters found the body of Michael Schoen, 57, in an upstairs bedroom, along with a 357 Magnum.

A Pennsauken man sold his vehicle the day after fatally shooting another man from its driver's seat in Merchantville, authorities said Monday. Isaiah Pascall, 23, shot Joshua Simmons, 21, of Pennsauken, in the chest, prosecutors said during an arraignment in Superior Court in Camden. Simmons was standing outside the vehicle when the shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in the unit block of Russell Avenue. Judge John Kelley ordered that Pascall's bail be maintained at $750,000.

A West Philadelphia woman accused of starving her dog to death has been found guilty of animal cruelty. Jamie Rutledge, 30, of the unit block of North Ithan Street, was ordered to pay a $750 fine and is prohibited from animal ownership for 90 days. Rutledge was a no-show in court yesterday for her summary trial, where Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge Teresa Carr Deni found her guilty of failing to feed the German shepherd. Officers with the Pennsylvania SPCA responding to a complaint found the dead, emaciated dog on Rutledge's property Jan. 9. A necropsy confirmed the cause of death as starvation, according to the PSPCA.

    A Montgomery County man who threatened to commit suicide barricaded himself inside his house for four hours early Wednesday before surrendering to police. The incident occurred in the unit block of Abbeyview Avenue in the Willow Grove section of Upper Moreland Township, according to police. The unidentified man indicated he wanted an armed confrontation with police, prompting a response from a SWAT team and negotiators. About 8 a.m. the man surrendered and was transported to the Montgomery County Emergency Services facility, in West Norriton Township, for evaluation.
