Derrick Mitchell batted 3 for 4 to lead a 12-hit attack as the Lakewood BlueClaws beat the Delmarva Shorebirds, 6-1, last night in the South Atlantic League. Vance Worley pitched three-hit ball over five innings and struck out nine batters to get the win. Syracuse 5, Lehigh Valley 2 ALLENTOWN - Kevin Mench drove home two runs with a single in the top of the third against losing pitcher Adam Eaton to propel the Chiefs to a win over the IronPigs in the International League.

Joe Savery tossed a five-hitter for a 4-1 victory in the opener, and Rodrigo Lopez also gave up five hits in a 7-2 win in the second game. Jeremy Slayden ripped his ninth home run in the fourth inning, and Mike Spidale had an RBI double in the fifth. Columbus 5, Lehigh Valley 4 ALLENTOWN - Wes Hodges' RBI single in the 10th led the Clippers past the IronPigs in the International League. Former Phillies Lou Marson and Jason Donald singled for Columbus in their first game.
